Dr. Roy Waldo Minor, Curator of Marine Life at the American Museum of Natural History

A classmate of Hugh's, Roy Waldo Miner was in the same graduating class of 1893, and also went on to Willaims.  He was born on the 24th of February 1875 in North Adams and and was the son of former teacher and principal at Drury, later Superintendent of North Adams Schools, A.D. Miner. During his time at Willaims College, Miner was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was involved in many academic extra-curriculars. Miner’s alma mater awarded him the degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa. He also received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Colombia University. He taught Latin and biology at the Berkeley School in New York from 1900 to 1904, he also became an instructor and associate headmaster at the Kelvin School in New York. Miner Lastly joined the staff of the American Museum of Natural History as an assistant curator of invertebrate zoology. He died on the 13th of December in 1955 at his home in Stonington, CT having accomplished a long list of achievements in Marine Science and Biology, penned several books, and earning himself a place on the "Who's Who in America" list.
