The College Archives contains materials dealing with the college from its start as a normal school to the present. The North Adams Normal School was founded in 1894 and opened in 1897. In 1932 it became the State Teachers College at North Adams and in 1960 it became North Adams State College. It was named Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 1997.

This series of pictures show what is most likely a Memorial Day ceremony in Alford, MA. The pictures show the Alford school students holding bouquets of flowers and flags. They are shown in the Alford Village Cemetery, in front of the Alford school, and the village church.
The Alford school was a training school for the North Adams Normal School.
