Arts Businesses in an Industrial Economy

Recently North Adams has become defined by its booming arts industry, with much of that being credited to the opening of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Arts. But this discounts the many arts related business that had always existed within the North Adams community. Arts-related businesses are often part of communities even if we do not recognize them as arts organizations. The company that produced these glass negatives were photographers that helped record and preserve memories for the families of North Adams and prove that creative businesses have always been part of the fabric of North Adams' economy.
