Subject

Smith, Roy Leon
Smith, Majel
Staples, Frank
Murdock Hall (College Hall) - exterior
North Adams Normal School
North Adams (Mass.)

Description

Three people standing in front of one of the entrances to Murdock Hall on the east side. On the back (in ink): "left to right/Frank Staples/(painted picture on south/wall of living room)/?/Roy Leon Smith" Stamped (in red ink) "Mar 6 1944" If the man on the right is Roy Leon Smith, then the stamped date is not the date the picture was taken. Principal Smith died in 1932. The woman may be his daughter Majel Smith, who graduated from the school in 1927. Her hair and dress reflect fashion in the 1920s, not the 1940s. In 1927, Frank Staples was teaching art in the summer school.
